Congratulations are in order – Harry Potter actor David Thewlis has said "I do" with his long-term partner Hermine, the pair tying the knot in a discreet ceremony.
The 58-year-old shared a tender tribute to his wife on Instagram, recalling the moment they first met and describing it as "love at first sight".
It’s not clear when the pair officially wed, but wedding rumours started circulating in April when he described Hermine as his "patient wife".
David posted a number of photos from their relationship, showing his bride posing against a sunset, as well as one of the newlyweds sharing a kiss.
He described the "rings on our fingers" in a sweet message accompanying the post, in reference to their status as husband and wife.
In his caption, he recalled: "When I first met Hermine, she was wearing a cherry red dress with white polka dots and smoking tobacco from a clay pipe.
"She told me she was the retired ringmistress of a travelling flea circus. I thought she was joking, but it was true. Ça a été un coup de foudre [It was love at first sight]."
The Remus Lupin actor admitted he was going to miss his wife when she returned to Paris to visit her family, confessing he was "a little lost" without Hermine in his life.
He said: "Tomorrow she is leaving for Paris and Provence to visit her family for the first time in over a year, whilst I must remain here in London, hawking fine literature to the masses. I am already a little lost.
"I feel like one of her poor fleas, off balance and out of control on a flying trapeze, with no net and no one to catch me.
"Hermine is almost packed. 'I'll miss you,' I say, 'and I expect you'll miss me'. She smiles and puts on her headphones, as if to say, 'Yes, of course I will'."
The screen star credited Hermine with helping him to finish his second book, Shooting Martha, with the sweethearts celebrating the novel's completion together with a glass of wine.
"I stayed in all day and night, every day and night and didn’t see anyone except my patient wife, Hermine," he recalled, describing the writing process.
David has been married once before – in 1992, he walked down the aisle with Welsh actress Sara Sugarman, the pair splitting two years later.
He went on to have a long-term romance with Marcella star Anna Friel, the couple welcoming a daughter, Gracie, in 2005.
Though they split five years later, they remain on friendly terms, co-parenting their now-teenage daughter together.
