Jeremy Kyle has broken his silence for the first time since his controversial show was yanked off air in 2019, following the tragic suicide of one guest.
The host admitted he has been battling anxiety and depression since the tragic incident, which saw The Jeremy Kyle Show axed for good.
The 56-year-old television presenter has finally had his say in an interview with The Sun, explaining to the publication: "I used to think ‘get a grip’ when some celebrities talked about those sort of problems.
"But suddenly I realised first-hand you can’t always do that. I never thought they would affect me like they did.
"That was a shock — but I’ve always said, ‘If you have a problem, admit it, and then seek the proper help’. So that’s what I did."
Jeremy admitted the incident left him "completely devastated", adding that he felt unable to leave his house or even open the curtains.
The chat show host said he eventually sought medical help after his fiancée Victoria urged him to see a doctor.
The star admitted that when he eventually managed to force himself to leave the house, he would don a baseball cap and glasses to "hide" away from the world, as he was "terrified" of the public reaction he might receive.
Jeremy said he "isn't asking for sympathy" but admits it was a "very difficult" time in his life.
The star's life was hit with a variety of setbacks over a short period, with the US version of his show being cancelled in 2013, followed by his testicular cancer diagnosis.
Jeremy also went his separate ways with his ex-wife Carla in September 2015, and lost his mum just two years later.
And the news of his UK show being axed came the exact same day his fiancée Vic announced she was pregnant with Jeremy's baby, Oliver.
The presenter's initial reaction to the show's axe was "incredulous shock", but confessed he opted for a big salary over a typical 9-to-5 job.
He also expressed concern for the show's crew who had also lost their jobs, and for late guest Steve Dymond and his family following his tragic suicide.
It comes two years after the devastating event, as Steve appeared on the show to take a lie detector test to prove that he had not cheated on his fiancée.
Steve was said to have become "distressed" during the incident, and was found dead at his home in Portsmouth just seven days after taking part in the show.
TV host Jeremy admitted he felt he'd been made a "scapegoat" in the fallout, and felt unable to have his say about the incident.
He is now launching a new show on talkRADIO, and hoping people will accept him for who he is.
