Love Island's Liberty Poole has defended her ex Jake Cornish after he missed the Love Island reunion show earlier this month.
The 22-year-old star was attending the Tric Awards 2021 in London on Wednesday evening.
Liberty was asked about Jake while walking the red carpet and if they had kept in touch.
The reality star said: “We are friends we are civil. I do think he was genuinely ill for the reunion.
“We don’t keep in contact anymore every day anymore, obviously we are exes but we are friends.”
Liberty was then asked if she had many people slide into her DM’s since leaving the ITV2 reality show last month.
She continued: “I haven’t had any guys slide into my DMs it’s mainly teenage girls saying you inspire me.
“I treasure that more than any having a man slide in anyways.”
Although being as honest as always, Liberty admitted that she hadn’t “checked the request section” of her messages.
So what does the future hold for Liberty and is she looking to date someone new?
“I’m not looking to date at the moment I’m just trying to focus on myself.
“For me it’s about personality it’s who they are as a person until I find someone I gel with, in that way then I can consider it but at the moment it’s not my main focus.”
Several cast members have since branded the reunion show hosted by Laura Whitmore "awkward" after the presenter got stars to sit next to their exes in front of the cameras.
Jake and Liberty proved to be a popular couple on this year’s Love Island after they decided to couple up on day one.
However, things soon turned sour when Liberty had her doubts about Jake when he questioned his attraction over his girlfriend.
The pair soon decided to end their relationship and go their separate ways all while quitting the show just days before the Love Island finale.
The show was eventually won by Millie Court and Liam Reardon who were crowned this year’s Love Island winners.
Liberty Poole was one of several celebs including Susanna Reid who was reunited with her former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan. attending this year’s Tric Awards 2021.
