Love Island came to a dramatic end this week after Millie Court and Liam Reardon were crowned the winners of the seventh series of the hit ITV2 dating show.
After seven weeks in the Spanish villa, the Islanders are set to return home to a whole new way of life after they amassed hundreds of thousands of followers online during their time on the show.
But for some, the new-found fame can be too much as they discover how the producers have condensed their summer vacation down to mere moments for fans to watch back in the UK.
Luckily, former contestant Luke Mabbott has been able to give out some useful advice to this season’s sexy singletons after his experience leaving the villa back in 2020.
In an exclusive chat with the Daily Star, the 26-year-old shared how he has been helping several Islanders slowly adjust to their new lifestyle after the show ended.
The reality star revealed how he has been passing on his pearls of wisdom to several stars, including Jake Cornish who left the villa after his shocking split from Liberty Poole just three days before the final.
He admitted: “I’ve had a couple of texts from some of them just asking for advice and I'm ringing Jake (Cornish) after this.
“I've been through it, so it’s nice to give him advice because sometimes you can come out and it’s so overwhelming.
“When you come out of the villa and then go to this, it’s crazy, so it’s nice to get someone’s perspective on it who’s actually done it.”
Luke left the show in third place with his then girlfriend Demi Jones, but the pair only remained together for a few months after the show before the called it quits in a messy online breakup.
As he reflected on his own time on the show, the northern lad shared his concerns about the public’s perception of him that he had on the flight home last year.
He added: “I think they’re all a bit nervous. You go on that show and literally you don’t know how you’re getting perceived on the outside, even if it’s totally different. It’s crazy how they can edit it.
“It's not very nice sometimes because you might not even be like that, but it’s TV.”
Both Luke and his Love Island alumni girlfriend Lucie Donlan, who starred in season five of the show, followed the show intently and admitted he was happy to see Millie and Liam take the crown on Monday night.
Fans of the hit dating show watched their relationship blossom on screen despite the Welsh heartthrob’s scandalous betrayal in Casa Amor, with the pair making things official on the big night.
But the handsome hunk revealed that no Love Island relationship is plain sailing and hiccups are to be expected in the early days of a relationship.
He told us: “To be fair they deserved it, they’re a wicked couple.
“They had their ups, they had their downs, but literally in that villa that’s what it’s like, there’s no straight easy relationship, it’s up and down all the time.”
Luke Mabbott chatted as he joined a host of well-known reality TV stars at Boxstar Celebrity Boxing Press Conference on Thursday at The AO Arena, Manchester.
