Nicolas Cage has stunned fans by stepping out with bright red hair.

In a photo shared on Monday by a fan on Twitter, the Oscar-winning actor sported the wild new look making the star barely recognizable.

Cage, 58, can be seen posing with the bright fiery red makeover but left his goatee in its natural colour.

The Hollywood actor also posed with two fans while out and about in another snap shared on the social platform.

'Just Nic Cage with new Cherry red hair… That's it, that's the Tweet…' the tweet read.

“Cool red hair,” one fan commented on a fan account’s post showing off the star’s new ‘do, while multiple others dropped strings of fire emojis to show their approval.

“A goat with a goatee,” another person quipped.

Fans suspect the star dyed his locks for a new role after his latest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, was a huge success among fans and critics alike.

The film earned a rare 100 per cent fresh rating through the first wave of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the film, Cage plays a version of himself and comes up against financial struggles before agreeing to appear at the birthday party of a billionaire fan for (USD) $1million.

This isn’t the first time the eccentric actor has transformed his tresses for roles.

Cage went gray and scruffy for 2021’s Pig, fluffy and sun-streaked for 1983’s Valley Girl, and loose and wavy for 1997’s Con Air.

The Face/Off actor is known for his quirky habits.

He once came close to buying a cave full of bats so he could go spelunking in the nude, and at one point was the proud owner of a two-headed snake.

It’s not the only major change for Cage these days; in April, the actor revealed he and his fifth wife, 27-year-old Riko Shibata, are expecting a baby girl named Lennon Augie, in honor of John Lennon and Cage’s father, August Coppola.

'I'm gonna have a little girl,' the 58-year-old actor announced during his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, April 12.

It was revealed in January that Cage and Shibata were expecting their first child, and Cage's third, after Weston and his 16-year-old son Kal-El from his third marriage with Alice Kim.

Cage isn't the only star to recently experiment with a new hair color. Earlier this month, Halle Berry, 56, unveiled purple curls with a couple of Instagram selfies.

"I know I look like I'm doing nothing but my hair is quite busy," she joked in the caption.
