One Direction: Harry Styles may have TROUNCED former bandmates with staggering move

One Direction fans were devastated when the band lost Zayn Malik back in 2015. Just a year later the band announced they were coming to an end completely, with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson going their separate ways. Since then, each of the bandmembers have released their own solo albums, full of their own work. Harry Styles was at the forefront of this, bringing in quite the audience with his self-titled album.

The past year saw the release of Styles’ second album “Fine Line”.

Over the course of 2020 he released the hit song Watermelon Sugar – which reached number one in August of this year.

Even more impressive, however, the young star seems to have outdone his former 1D peers with this song alone.

According to The Bad Blood Bank, Styles’ Watermelon Sugar has grossed him a huge amount of money.

According to the company, Styles earned a staggering $2.4 million from Watermelon Sugar’s Spotify streams.

The company estimated every stream on Spotify is worth $0.00437.

This, multiplied by the 540,789,672 streams (by August 11 this year), means the star would have been quite happy with the sum he earned.

Styles has certainly put his best foot forward during his relatively short solo career, and Watermelon Sugar has proved he can make a hit.

But with such a massive song already under his belt, is Styles the most successful member of One Direction to date?

Recently, rumours of One Direction getting back together have been swirling once again.

And, because of that, the odds on the team’s reunion have also improved.

Leading bookmaker Coral recently slashed the odds on 1D getting back together before the end of 2020.

Fans were granted 1-4 odds on the team reuniting within the next few months – which is huge news for the diehards.

However, there is a drawback from these odds.

While the odds on the reunion are good, the chances of Malik returning to the band are relatively slim.

The odds on Malik making a comeback to the band are at a disappointing 5-4.

Coral’s John Hill commented at the time: “It is surely only a matter of time before the boys get back together and the betting suggests a reunion will be announced before the year is out.

“Unfortunately, that reunion is unlikely to include Zayn Malik according to our odds.

“We expect Zayn to continue concentrating on his solo career.”

Upon his exit back in 2015, Malik wrote online: “I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
