Piers Morgan says he’s ‘getting better with age’ after wife’s Celia’s racy dig

Piers Morgan has insisted he's "aging like a fine wine" after his wife Celia Walden sent him a cheeky birthday message on Instagram.

The former Good Morning Britain host was celebrating his 58th birthday on Wednesday (March 30) when he received a message from his stunning wife Celia, who also happens to be a prominent journalist.

However, it's clear Celia wasn't afraid to offer up some brutally-honest words for her spouse on his special day.

Taking to Instagram, Celia shared a sweet throwback snap of her and her hubby Piers looking glam on a romantic night out together.

Piers could be seen sporting a smart shirt and jacket combo, whereas Celia looked gorgeous in a dazzling red dress.

Wishing her husband a happy birthday, Celia couldn't resist taking a cheeky dig at the TV presenter's age by telling him he was "only as old as the woman you feel", referring of course to her.

By doing so, Celia was poking fun at herself as she suggested she wasn't "that young" herself.

She wrote: "Happy Birthday Mr Morgan. You’re only as old as the woman you feel. So basically you’re not that young anymore. Sorry."

Reacting to her tweet in typically-witty fashion, Piers shared Celia's post to his Instagram Stories – in front of his 1.8m followers.

He decided to take a more complimentary approach than his other half, though, because he replied: "Like cheese and wine, we're both improving with age…"

Piers and Celia tied the knot together in June 2010 after they were put in touch by Piers' former GQ editor, Dylan Jones.

Piers had actually been asked to interview Celia when she was a gossip columnist from the Daily Telegraph, but he initially refused.

However, his opinion quickly changed when he set eyes on Celia, admitting he "immediately cleared my schedule".

Recalling the special moment, Piers said: "He [Dylan] sent over the pictures, and after viewing them, I immediately cleared my schedule for a series of increasingly long ‘interviews’ with the gossip columnist.

"Her name was Celia Walden – and I married her five years later. Thanks Dylan."

Piers and Celia have gone on to welcome one child together, their daughter Elsie.

Piers also has three sons, Albert, Spencer and Stanley, from his previous marriage to Marion Shalloe – a marriage which ended in 2008.
