Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to hit out at the "woke brigade" after recent controversy emerged regarding Disneyland and their portrayal of the infamous Snow White kiss.
Recently, Disney received backlash for their Snow White ride as Prince Charming kisses the princess without her knowing or "consent" while she is asleep.
Though the ride tries to remain as close to the original fairytale as possible, some believe that Disney should have adjusted the 1937 classic to avoid the kiss between the prince and the princess.
During the newly upgraded ride, Prince Charming kisses Snow White on the lips as the ride comes to an end in an attempt to wake her up.
However, ride reviewers Katie Dowd and Julie Tremaine believe the smooch should no longer take place without the princess’ consent and the ride should be "re-imagined" to coincide with modern standards.
Discussing the ride, Dowd and Tremaine wrote: "A kiss he gives to her without her consent, while she's asleep, which cannot possibly be true love if only one person knows it's happening."
The pair added: "Haven't we already agreed that consent in early Disney movies is a major issue? That teaching kids that kissing, when it hasn't been established if both parties are willing to engage, is not OK?"
Writing their opinions for the SF Gate, Dowd and Tremaine went on to add: "It's hard to understand why the Disneyland of 2021 would choose to add a scene with such old fashioned ideas of what a man is allowed to do to a woman."
Not long after seeing a report by the New York Post following the scandal, presenter Piers took to Twitter to share his take.
Piers wrote: "For the love of God…
"Can the woke brigade please just shut the f*ck up?
He continued: "You’re pathetic & exhausting, and nobody in the real world agrees with you. Thanks."
He also said: "Leave Snow White's hero Prince alone, you insufferable woke brats – I do not consent to you cancelling him as a predator for kissing her to save her life. Love, PIERS xxx"
Though Dowd and Tremaine criticised the ride, they also added that it is "beautifully executed", but riders must remember that it is fiction and not fact.
Disney actress Kristen Bell who voiced Anna in the 2013 hit film Frozen, also admitted to finding the concept of Snow White rather "weird".
Speaking openly to People the 40-year-old actress said: "Don’t you think that it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission? Because you cannot kiss someone if they’re sleeping!"
"Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, 'Don’t you think it’s weird that Snow White didn’t ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?'"
The actress said: "I say, 'I would never take food from a stranger, would you?'
"And my kids are like, 'No!' And I’m like, 'Okay, I’m doing something right'."
Media giant Disney have previously removed topics relating to scenes from rides such as Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain because some may deem them as inappropriate.
