Roxette drummer Pelle Alsing dies as heartbroken band pay moving tribute

Roxette drummer Pelle Alsing has died aged 60.

The iconic Swedish rock band confirmed Pelle's passing on their official Twitter account, but his cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Per Gessle, who was part of the band Roxette alongside the late Marie Fredriksson shared the devastating news.

He posted a picture of Pelle beaming and at the camera and doing a peace sign.

His statement read: "It is with sadness I inform you that our beloved Pelle Alsing has passed away.

"P was not only an amazing and inventive drummer helping us to create the Rox sound since Day 1, he was also the best friend you can imagine, a kind and generous man with the biggest heart beating for everyone."

They continued in another tweet: "He was always the funniest to be around, the one with the biggest smile on his face, the one who supported you the most when you were in doubt.

"He will be truly missed so much more than words can say.

"All my love goes out to his wife, family and friends."

Pelle starred in an array of Roxette's albums and performed live with them from the 1980s until the 2010s.

He also played with the likes of Niklas Strömstedt, Lisa Nilsson and Ulf Lundell and was in the band Ratata.

The tragic news of Pelle's death comes one year after Roxette star Marie Fredriksson died aged 61.
