In a world now dependent on the use of technology to keep up connections with loved ones while utilised to pass the time, there’s nothing quite more infuriating than when an app decides to crash.

But, what if the app is still in perfect running order, except you can’t navigate it in the usual fashion because of a button glitch?

Ask the millions of frustrated Android users, who have been on the unfortunate end of a technical glitch on the Facebook app.

Meta-owned Facebook rolled out its new update, Version 439, on October 31, 2023.

Following the update on the social app, Android users soon discovered that their back button was not in its usual place – at the bottom of the screen.

Previously, those with Android phones could simply tap the button at the bottom and return to the last screen they were on. In the same instance, Apple users are able to simply swipe right to go back.

Instead, Android users now have no option but to scroll to the top and tap an alternative back button.

Although it may appear as a minor inconvenience, users have been expressing their fury on X, formerly Twitter, as they protest for the return of the button’s original placement.

One exasperated Android user begged: ‘@Facebook Please give us the back button!!! Please!’

A fellow vexed user fumed: ‘FACBOOK WHATEVER YOU DID CHANGE IT BACK! I WANNA USE MY “BACK BUTTON” ON MY PHONE!!!!’

One individual also wrote, ‘Please reinstate the back button, your update sucks. Sincerely, Everyone,’ while another said, ‘What sadist moves the BACK button up the top!!! Return it to the bottom where it was just fine.’

A final baffled Android user, attaching a GIF image of comedian Kevin Hart waving his fingers around, wrote: ‘How my fingers look whenever I’m holding my phone one handed and forget that my phone’s back button no longer works on Facebook.’

While the updated version of the app has caused an uproar amongst its users, there appears to be some form of light at the end of the tunnel, as there is currently one way to avoid the ‘chaotic’ new placement of the back button.

All it takes is for Android users to revert back to the old version of the software, which can be accessed in Facebook settings.

To do so: Open the settings on your phone, press the Apps & Notifications option, select See All Apps, proceed to scroll onto you find Facebook, and press the three dots on the top tight corner, where you will then be prompted to uninstall updates.

Meanwhile, Users are waiting for a software update that will soon hopefully resolve the problem.

MailOnline have contacted Meta for further comments.

In July, Android users across the UK were issued with an urgent warning over a security threat disguised to steal their bank details.

The threat was discovered by the security team at ThreatFabric and was revealed to be using apps uploaded to the Google Play Store to infect phones with fraudulent Anatsa banking trojan.

Once installed on a device, the money-stealing bug is capable of stealing credentials which can be used to authorise users whey log into mobile banking.
