Bigfoot sceptic stunned after coming ‘face to face’ with the legendary monster

A man who says that he never believed in Bigfoot has released a photo of the purported legendary woodland creature after encountering it in a remote forest in southern West Virginia, US.

Billy Humphrey, of Fayette County, told the West Virginia Explorer that he didn't believe in Bigfoot, and he thought that people who claimed they saw it were “crazy.”

But that changed back in October 2019, when the former US Marine was hunting in the woods near his home in Danese. He left out some food as bait to attract animals in front of his hide and was amazed when it disappeared almost immediately: "Everything was gone within hours – all of it,” he said.

So over the next two nights he staked out the spot, using a remote camera and a light to see if he could spot whatever animal was taking all of his bait.

"I knew I had some raccoons, and we've got deer and bear,” he said, “but whatever it was, it was eating everything, and I was determined to find out what was going on."

He waited in his hide. But, he says, he began to get a sense that something “wasn’t right.”

He was used to waiting for hours in dark woods to catch deer and other game, but the woods seemed unnaturally quiet. He texted his wife, Sheena: "Something is eerie up here. There ain't nothing moving."

Then he heard something large moving around hear his hideout. He couldn’t see it properly but based on its apparent size he guessed that it was a large bear: "I thought it was a bear because it was tall enough that it cast a shadow when it passed in front of the light, but the light was nine feet up, so whatever it was, it was big."

The following night the stealthy intruder managed to take more food without revealing themselves but on the third evening Billy, this time joined by Sheena, came face to face with the culprit: “We'd only been sitting there for about 15 minutes when it came back. We looked out, and Sheena says, calmly, 'There he is.' I said, 'There who is?' Bigfoot,' she said.”

Billy managed to get a quick snap with his phone’s camera before the creature walked off, making a sound that – as Billy described it – sounded "like a bear’s death moan."

He says he'll never forget the sight of the legendary beast: "It was massive, and about eight-and-a-half feet, I guess. Sheena went and stood where he'd been standing, and she's about five-seven. In the picture, he's actually standing so his lower half is over the hillside.

“The thing was huge. It had a cone head, and it was tan under the eyes and had a barrel chest. The original photo of Bigfoot you see in the Patterson–Gimlin film—that's what it looked like. It didn't look like some of the other photos you see.”

Billy says he’s sorry now that he ever disbelieved people who claimed to have seen the creature, and says that if any sceptics want to come and see the legendary beast for themselves, they’d be welcome in his home.
