An eerie-looking object in the "shape of a flying saucer" has baffled the internet after being spotted hovering above New York City in the US.

Video shared on YouTube channel "The Hidden Underbelly 2.0" shows a dark "saucer" remaining stationary just above the tree lines in the night sky on September 6.

Lukuz, who filmed the footage, said in the clip: "What the hell is that, man? Oh guys, that's a UFO. Oh s***, that's a UFO right here.

"I got it, it's on camera. UFO, right here CCP."

He said the black UFO was about 100 to 150 feet away from him across a park in Bronx, New York City.

"I didn't see it leave but it did," he added.

The UFO enthusiast reviewed the short clip and suggested there could be two potential reasons explaining the phenomenon.

He said: "This could be what it is – a black flying saucer. Or it could be a very odd-shaped cloud.

"But judging from the footage, it seems like there are no other clouds in the sky.

Many fans said it did not look like a cloud to them and it would be too unusual to have a single cloud in the sky.

One commented: "It looks like an unusual object, but what always makes me question this type of footage is the population density.

"If this was really a huge object in the sky over NYC, there would be 100’s if not 1000’s of videos circulating."

A second penned: "I'm going with flying saucer, it makes me sad think of it being a lonely cloud all on its own."

Last week, a Brit filmed what appeared to be a mysterious "portal" hovering in the sky above Glasgow.

The illuminating object became clear when he zoomed in and showed layers of rims around it.
