Bloke who spent £12.5k to ‘become dog’ stuns as he’s hauled around city in buggy

A man who spent thousands to "become a dog" has shocked people by being hauled around town sporting his expensive get-up.

Uploading to the aptly-named YouTube channel "I want to be an animal" yesterday (Saturday, October 21), the man-dog named Toco took to wandering around Tokyo, Japan, wearing the £12,500 costume. Captioning the clip, the man wrote: "My name is Toco, I wanted to be an animal and I became a collie. I went out in a realistic dog costume to a park in the city of Tokyo!"

Hauled along the streets in a rolling buggy usually used for girl scout cookies or 20th-century paper rounds, Toco appeared to be loving life. The video then showed Toco dismounting the man-sized carriage, wheeled by an unnamed woman, before taking to the streets.

Strangers were spotted petting him and rubbing his artificial stomach, seemingly embracing the man's dream of transforming himself into a pooch. Toco was also seen performing tricks in a park and posing for a few snaps, rolling over and handing his paw out.

Toco has never disclosed his true identity – not even the man's friends know of how he spends his free time. The man has previously spoken out about the hate he gets for the way he chooses to live his life.

But it now seems a growing collection of fans are now defending the man-dog.

One user, commenting on the recent video, wrote: "There's always been some real pieces of work in the past who attacked this concept, probably just because they couldn't wrap their head around why somebody would want to become a dog."

Despite the wave of positivity, the costume still clearly shocked some members of the public, who were seen staring at Toco as he passed them by. Others were relatively uninterested in the beast, and beyond a few stares and strokes, Toco made it through the streets with little fuss.

Despite his unique lifestyle choice, Toco has a legion of fans desperate to live just like him. The Daily Star previously reported the desires of hundreds who hope to live the life of man's best friend.

Toco previously revealed "there are other people like me" and connected with them through his fast-growing online community. The Daily Star previously reported Toco could be part of a "larger pack" of therians, furry-like hobbyists who love nothing more than dressing up as animals.
