Christmas stuff on shelves during late summer heatwave baffles hot shoppers

The weather outside is far from frightful, and shoppers have been left baffled by the sight of Christmas products already appearing on shop shelves . . . in the middle of a heatwave.

The festive period is still around 16 weeks away, but it seems like some stores are very eager to flog their Christmas products already.

One anonymous shopper, who was perusing the aisles at The Range at Gallagher Retail Park in Weston-Super-Mare, spoke exclusively to the Daily Star about her shock at seeing Christmas items already in stores – but not just on a few shelves dotted around the store.

“People were saying it's a bit out of season and is especially strange with the heatwave.

And it's not just The Range that has them out, as one of the Daily Star's News Team members was shopping in Costco in Trafford two weeks ago when he spotted huge displays of Christmas gifts, decorations and even food already available to buy.

But ever year shops across the UK are going early with the holiday items, with many even reported to have been seen putting Valentines Day items out before Christmas had even taken place in 2022.

The Daily Star has reached out to The Range to find out why the items are on the shelves so early.
