Dinosaur pets are the grooming craze cats wish you’d never heard of

While dogs seem constantly delighted to share our homes, even the most affectionate cat seems to be barely tolerating us.

And if they were a bit unimpressed with humanity before, this latest grooming trend is likely to turn our feline flatmates off us altogether.

It isn’t just cats that will be unimpressed by these images of owners trimming their pets’ fur into stegosaurus-like ridges.

For every comment on a #Dinocut Instagram post that praises the originator’s quirky style there are a dozen pointing out that cats are not toys, and that can’t don’t necessarily enjoy losing great chunks of fur.

Under a post from regular dinocat fan Mr Cheeto Meowstache, for example, which shows a ginger tom with it sfur saved into mini-pryamids Debora Ramos replies “How cruel! Poor cat! “ and Anita Gala echoes “This is so wrong.”

Another Instagram user agrees, saying “ridiculous….the cat can’t speak…so u can do anything to it….!!…creepy people.”

Fans of the practise argue back though: Domok Laura replies “Everybody’s like “poor cat” and “so cruel”, but people, it’s just fur and your hairdresser could do the same to your hair, it will grow back anyways” and Ligarces joins in, saying “I love the haircut.”
