Elon Musk reveals plans for talking Teslas that can use AI to speak to pedestrians through speakers – and even features a ‘fart mode’
- Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed an upcoming feature on his personal Twitter
- He said Teslas will be able to talk to pedestrians using the external speakers
- The technology would also let drivers emit a fart noise from the speakers
- The speakers are fitted on the inside the front grills of the electric vehicles
- They emit artificial noise in order to comply with safety regulations
We may not have flying cars, but we could soon have ‘talking’ ones.
Elon Musk teased an upcoming Tesla feature that combines external speakers and artificial intelligence, enabling vehicles to ‘speak’ to pedestrians.
The billionaire said that other than conversing with humans, drivers could emit a fart noise from the speakers as well.
Musk shared a clip of the technology on his personal Twitter page, which highlights a Model 3 driving through the streets and speakers playing ‘Well don’t just stand there staring. Hop in’.
‘Teslas will soon talk to people if you want,’ he said in the tweet on Saturday. ‘This is real.’

The speakers have been added to the electric vehicles under the Pedestrian Enhancement Safety Act of 2010.
This law requires electric vehicles to emit a noise when traveling at speeds lower than 19 miles per hour to compensate for the relative silence of their engines
And Tesla placed theirs in the front grills of each vehicle.
It is not clear why the firm would include a fart noise as an option, but Musk has previously teased this feature before.
In October, he noted that owners could soon customize the sound of their car horns – and one of the noises includes a fart sound.
The CEO shared this on Twitter, stating the horns will include a range of sounds including goat bleats and the sound of clacking coconut shells.
Musk also noted that he would be open to letting customers uploading their own sound files.

However, it is yet clear when or if these features will be available.
In addition to talking cars and fart emitting horns, the California firm is also believed to be working on a different type of vehicle – a ‘high passenger-density urban transport’, electric bus-like vehicle.
Telsa has closely followed a ‘Master Plan’ over the past 14 years, which was written by Musk, and there is just one more vehicle left to be release.
According to images released by Tesla, the ‘bus-like’ vehicle would run people around a city at maximum speeds of 124 miles per hour.

The design would be mostly glass and inside seating for passengers.
The Master Plan was first made public in 2016, which is an outline the company hopes to complete over the next decade.
The document’s vision includes Tesla’s electric compact vehicles, the Cybertruck and Cyberquad, according to Electrek.
Musk has noted that the Cybertruck would be Tesla’s last new product for a while, but following the Master Plan, the firm could be set to launch a new transportation vehicle.
