A tattoo artist has baffled and disgusted social media users after inking a client with an optical illusion tattoo. Artist Matt Pehrson gave his friend Ryan an “insane optical illusion” tattoo that he designed. Ryan’s scalp was permanently marked with a series of thick lines that divert inwards to the back of his skull, making it look like he has a gaping hole in his head.
Matt’s contentious artwork was created atop Ryan’s head several years ago but has continued to attract attention online after it was reshared on Instagram.
Matt’s page, where he shares his work, including more illusion tattoos, has over 60,000 followers.
In his original post, Matt said: “Did a crazy thing on my friend Ryan today…
“We have a lot left to finish on his dome. What do you all think of a piece like this?”

Matt has since shared a video showing angles from which the optical illusion is broken.
He gained praise from many of his fans, with the original post receiving thousands of comments.
One user said: “Forced perspective is hard enough on a canvas, never mind a human head! DUDE. You should get an award for this!
Another wrote: “Literally looks like he has a hole in the back of his head holy s*** good job.”
