Netflix goes DOWN across the US and Europe preventing users across the globe from watching content as they isolate at home

Netflix is experiencing widespread outages across the globe as people isolate themselves at home due to an ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday afternoon, thousands of reports flooded the outage-detecting site, and social media as Netflix ceased working.

Users reported being unable to access the site and the app, both of which refused to load. 

Across the US and UK, users of Netflix reported outages on as they were unable to access the service and stream their favorite TV shows and movies

The service often display error code ‘Error NSES-500’ which entails ‘a network connectivity issue that is preventing your device from reaching the Netflix service.’ 

On the streaming giant’s status page the company displayed a notice that the it would not likely be able to field customer support calls in a timely fashion as many of its employees are being forced to work from home. 

‘Due to the COVID-19 crisis thousands of our customer support agents are now having to work from home, making it harder to support your calls,’ the pages reads. 

‘So we are seeing higher than normal wait times.’

The outage affected users across Europe and the US as many of them hunker down at home at the behest of their state and local governments. 

Rising numbers of people at home has put strain on services that rely on the internet and even the internet infrastructure itself.  

In the UK, major mobile networks, including O2, Vodafone, and others went down last week as millions of British workers started to work from home. 

Outages affected workers across the UK suddenly found they couldn’t make voice calls on their mobile phone and experienced spotty connectivity.

Among those putting strain on the network are online gamers who have taken to their consoles as isolation sets in across the globe (stock)

Similarly, services like Xbox Live and Nintendo online that enable gamers to play online also went down last week. 

Likewise, Nintendo’s online services ceased working last week. 

In an official statement, the company acknowledged that many of its systems were temporarily down, including its eShop where customers can buy games and other downloadable content.

‘Unfortunately, we’re having some issues with our network services. We’re looking to rectify the situation as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience,’ the company wrote in a tweet at the time.
