Woman who dyed her dog green and red like the Grinch accused of animal abuse

A dog owner has come under fire after giving her pet a Christmas makeover – by dying her dog green and red to look like the Grinch.

Ashley Spielmann, took her miniature Schnauzer Rizzo to the groomers – transforming his fluffy, white coat into green and red.

Posting the dramatic look on TikTok, Ashley was criticised by animal lovers and accused of animal abuse.

"When your groomer slays making your dog into the Grinch," she posted pictures of Rizzo before and after getting his fur dyed.

While Ashely was absolutely over the moon with his festive look, viewers on TikTok said they "felt bad" for the dog.

Rizzo got his head, legs and tail dyed in green colour and his body in red as an illusion of wearing a Santa costume.

Viewers, however, reacted differently and questioned why she decided to dye her dog in green.

One said: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

"Poor thing, looks like he doesn't like it," another noted and a third commented: "I hate stuff like this. It's not like the dog gives consent! Some people shouldn't have pets."

"Kind of looks like animal abuse to me, I don't know," a fourth added.

Ashley hit back at trolls by posting more videos of Rizzo and in one clip called his name and asked: "Are you abused? Are you abused?"

Some defended Ashley and suggested the colour dye used by the groomers was most likely pet-friendly and non-toxic.

"He's less likely to be stolen and is more recognisable if he goes missing – perks of pet-safe dyes," one also added.

And a second said: "This is the cutest thing ever and I'm so sorry people are being such Scrooges.

"This is adorable and you seem like a great dog mum! Happy holidays."
