Arsenal reveal 2018-19 home kit as new squad numbers are announced… but do they hint at summer transfer plans?

Hector Bellerin has been a target for Manchester City and Juventus.

However, the Spanish full-back has been handed the No.2 shirt, his fourth squad number since he made his debut in 2013.

But the signs could be ominous for David Ospina, who could be on his way out of the club after playing second fiddle to Petr Cech.

The Colombian keeper has seen Cech upgraded from No.33 to the coveted No.1 jersey, which could suggest he has cemented his place as first-choice keeper next season.

Mohamed Elneny has been given the No.4 shirt.

The Egyptian midfielder who penned a new long-term contract in March takes over the jersey from the retiring Per Mertesacker.

Granit Xhaka moves from No.29 to his favourite No.34, which holds personal significance to him.

ART STOPPER Unai Emery odds for Arsenal job were 66/1 ten days ago but now he is closing on job as Mikel Arteta withdraws from running

The Swiss star who has struggled to make an impact during his two years at the Emirates has the number tattooed on his back and arm.

He said: “The number 34 has a big significance for me.

“It was my first number as a professional and it’s always brought me luck.

“I’ve even got the number tattooed in my back and my arm.”

The Arsenal players armed with their new squad numbers are getting ready to welcome Unai Emery as the new head coach.

It has looked like Manchester City coach and former Gunners skipper Mikel Arteta was set to take over.

But the Emirates board have gone for the experienced Spaniard who left Paris Saint-Germain last month and was linked with the West Ham job now filled by Manuel Pellegrini.
