Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has opted to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL instead of on the baseball diamond.
Since he made his announcement Monday, speculation about where he could end up playing has run rampant.
The Arizona Cardinals, who have the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL draft, are right in the middle of that speculation, especially after news broke that Murray had hired Erik Burkhardt as his agent, the same agent as Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury.
So, as you might expect, on Tuesday at a news conference introducing the Cardinals' new defensive coaches and staff, Kingsbury was asked about the connection to Murray.
"Josh (Rosen) is our guy," Kingsbury said.
And earlier in the day, Cardinals team president Michael Bidwill said the team planned on building around its current foundation during an appearance on the "Doug & Wolf Show" on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
“Josh is a smart guy, he’s been around and he’s seen what happens year in and year out,” Bidwill said. “There’s always a lot of speculation that turns out to not be true. But moving forward, we’re going to continue to build this team and build around the foundation that we have.”
