The Red Devils midfielder has still not signed a new deal at Old Trafford despite it running out next summer.
The 29-year-old is free to talk to other European clubs in January, and can sign a pre-contract agreement.
And the La Liga giants are looking to lure him to the Nou Camp, after trying to land him in the last transfer window.
Herrera wants to stay at United, but is understood to be growing frustrated with a lack of movement over fresh terms.
He has held talks over a new two-year contract, but it is thought nothing has been signed as of yet.
An Old Trafford source said: “There has been interest in Ander before and will be again in January.
“It was assumed everything would be boxed off by now but that doesn’t look to be the case. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Herrera cost £28.8m when he arrived from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 and was the Red Devils’ Player of the Year two seasons ago.
The Spanish international – who has featured just twice in the Premier League this season – is currently nursing a malleolar injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow's clash against Wolves.
