Next feud for WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns revealed

Roman Reigns has begun a feud with Braun Strowman since dethroning Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam to finally become WWE Universal Champion.

After a two-year pursuit of a world title, The Big Dog ended the UFC-bound Beast Incarnate’s epic reign at 504 days, with a little help from Strowman.

Braun attempted to cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase the next evening on Raw, following Reigns’ first successful title defence against Finn Bálor.

Yet his efforts were thwarted by Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, who helped Roman put him through an announce table with a triple powerbomb.

Officially reuniting The Shield, the trio are now dead set on preventing The Monster Among Men from claiming the top prize on Monday nights.

Braun, who appears to have turned heel by joining forces with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre to beat down The Hounds of Justice, will get his title shot.

Strowman and Reigns will now clash inside the ominous steel of Hell in a Cell, at the pay-per-view of the same name, on Sunday, September 16.

But according to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, via Rajah , the behemoth will become one of a select few men to fail to capitalise on the briefcase.

That’s because the polarising Reigns, who continues to divide opinion among fans and receive more jeers than cheers, is expected to win the feud.

Barrasso says sources indicate the 33-year-old’s title reign is expected to be "lengthy", which will not please the proud Samoan’s vocal detractors.

Yet Reigns, real name Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, remains WWE chairman Vince McMahon’s choice to lead his promotion as the face of the company.

However, it’s a superstar McMahon first earmarked for a world title run nearly a decade ago who apparently will be his next high profile opponent.

The next challenger to the Universal Championship will be Drew McIntyre, Barrasso claims – whom Vince introduced as ‘The Chosen One’ in 2009.

Since leaving WWE in 2014 having failed to live up to lofty expectations, the 33-year-old, real name Andrew Galloway, from Ayr, reinvented his career.

McIntyre stormed the independent scene, then rejoined WWE as part of NXT, where he became NXT Champion in 2017 under the guidance of Triple H.

The 6ft 6in bruiser is now running riot on Raw as the enforcer of Ziggler and has proven his main event credentials with wins over the likes of Rollins.

A feud between him and Reigns looked inevitable at some stage, but perhaps we could be about to see it far sooner than many fans had expected.
