So far the Danes have beaten Wales 2-0 in Group B4, whilst Ireland were soundly trounced 4-1 by Wales.
Christian Eriksen struck a goal in each half to catch Ryan Giggs' Wales team napping.
In the first half he took a touch and was given far too much time to steer a shot from the edge of the area. The great Dane made no mistake, the ball spinning in off the post.
Then Ethan Ampadu handled a ball into the box from sub Victor Fisher – and Eriksen dispatched the penalty with ease.
After that terrific performance Eriksen is said to be very annoyed at having to miss the showdown with the Republic.
Why is Christian Eriksen not playing for Denmark against the Republic of Ireland?
The influential Tottenham attacking midfielder has missed the last four Premier League games with an abdominal problem suffered in the 2-1 win at Brighton.
His national boss, Age Hareide, said: “Such an injury can be chronic and it is true that Tottenham also fears that.”
Is there another take on the injury?
Yes. Said Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots: “Some international media have translated Hareide’s words badly.
“Christian has no chronic injuries — nobody has said that. He just has an injury related to some fatigue and, for that reason, he is having some rest. That is normal because otherwise it would not heal."
Has a date been set for Eriksen's return?
No. Eriksen, 26, has been doing light training alone at Spurs and although there is no time frame on his return, the club are apparently relaxed about his fitness.
