A WWE wrestler described as ‘a monstrous abomination’ has been elected as a town mayor in the US.
Glenn Jacobs – better known as the ‘Big Red Machine’ Kane – won two-thirds of the vote to take office in Knox County, Tennessee.
The 51-year-old Republican had vowed to keep taxes low, improve infrastructure and operate with “transparency”.
That was enough to see off the Democrat candidate Linda Haney.
Jacobs rose to fame in the 1990s thanks to his character Kane, the brother of the infamous Undertaker.

“There are so many great things our county has to offer and frankly the rest of the country needs to know about it.”
Jacobs, who will be sworn in on September 1, is the second WWE hero to win US public office.
