The EastEnders trailer has arrived, which means it’s time to look forward to a Summer full of drama in Albert Square. We already can see from the trailer some big storylines including Bobby Beale’s return (now played by Clay Milner Russell), Jack Branning’s (Scott Maslen) arrest, and another big storyline involving the Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) and the Mitchell family.
The trailer was a short two minutes which means they threw in some very short clips that were hard to take note of unless you paused the video. So what’s behind the short blink and you miss them moments in the trailer? Here’s eight things you may have missed:
1) Ben attacks someone, and then gets beaten up as well
We know that Ben’s (Max Bowden) current storyline is a connection with Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) after discovering that Callum is hiding the truth about his sexuality, and we also know Callum asked his brother Stuart (Ricky Champ) to ‘deal with him’ but soon changed his mind after Stuart confronted Ben in the pub toilets. Could this short clip in the trailer of Ben punching someone, and then getting seriously beaten up himself be down to Stuart not listening to Callum and arranging for Ben to be attacked?
2) Keanu looking for someone on London rooftops
It’s clear Keanu (Danny Walters) is heavily involved in a storyline this summer, but the small clip of him on a rooftop in the city got me thinking. Is he running from someone, or is he looking for someone? We see a bit further into the trailer that he’s kidnapped and put in a warehouse, and we also see him running from the police – is this all because Phil (Steve McFadden) finds out about Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Keanu’s affair, or something completely different?
3) Linda and Shirley hugging at Spice Girls concert
In recent episodes, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) was seen trying to win Spice Girls concert tickets for Linda (Kellie Bright) via a radio competition, he lost the competition, but bus driver Terry who he lost to very kindly gave him the tickets when he discovered his wife didn’t even like the Spice Girls. In the trailer we see Linda dressed as Baby Spice and Shirley (Linda Henry) dressed as Scary Spice (very apt) hugging in the toilets and not long after, Mick sees them – I could be looking at this the wrong way, but perhaps Linda is hiding something from Mick and confides in Shirley? Maybe Linda has learnt why son Ollie has been showing signs of worrying behaviour? Alternatively, they may just need a five minute breather after an emotional song during the concert…
4) Arrival of Sami’s mother Nita
We know Robbie (Dean Gaffney) has been looking after son Sami for a while and has been acting strangely whenever the subject of Sami’s mum pops up which has made me wonder whether Sami was meant to be in Robbie’s care for so long. We see Nita (Bindya Solanki) hugging Sami in the Square Gardens during the trailer – does Nita think Robbie has kidnapped Sami?
5) Kush running after/from someone
If you saw this clip without pausing the video a round of applause to you because it was a quick one to spot. Initially I thought the clip showed Kush (Davood Ghadami) running after someone – potentially Nita, but pausing the video has made me realise there is no connection there but Kush is in fact running away from Martin (James Bye)! Kush hasn’t had it easy recently and after hiding the secret about Bex’s (Jasmine Armfield) ADHD tablets and also announcing he wants joint custody of his son Arthur, Martin and him haven’t exactly seen eye to eye. What could Kush have possibly done now?
6) Stuart saving Rainie
Recent spoilers have shown Rainie (Tanya Franks) kidnapping Max’s (Jake Wood) granddaughter Abi and during the trailer we see Stuart saving Rainie from someone after she get’s in some bother with a stranger. Could I go as far as saying Stuart is becoming a bit of a hero after finding Bex a few weeks ago and now saving Rainie and baby Abi from someone? Well…maybe not a hero just yet…
7) Sharon punches Karen
An interesting turn of events sees Sharon punch Karen (Lorraine Stanley) which certainly shocked me. I tried to put my finger on why Sharon could be punching Karen but the only possible answer I can come up with based on what we’ve seen so far in the trailer is that perhaps Sharon was tired of Karen giving her a piece of her mind when it comes to her and Keanu’s affair? A complete unprovoked punch in the face out of anger? It is Albert Square, not everything has a justified reason behind it!
8) Arrival of Callum and Stuart’s dad
This summer will see the arrival of Callum and Stuart’s evil and abusive father Jonno (played by Hollywood star Richard Graham) and in the clips within the trailer, neither of the Highway brothers look pleased to see him. Callum is pinned up against the wall by his father, not long after we hear Callum say ‘you’re hurting me’ and then when Stuart comes into contact with Jonno, he threatens to kill him. But of course, the obvious question is – what’s the reason behind Jonno’s arrival?
Punches, new arrivals, hugs, and kidnappings – are the residents of Albert Square ever going to just have a normal, quiet day?!
