Stephen and his daughter Stephanie needed Jasmine Harman’s guidance on Wednesday’s instalment of A Place in the Sun. Ahead of the search, Stephen started welling up as he explained he had overcome his battle with cancer which is why he felt it was the ideal time to run a glamping site in Poitou-Charentes in France. Later on, Jasmine got emotional when both of her guests started crying at a picturesque property in the heart of the French countryside.

The father and daughter had a budget of £250,000 and were hoping to find a place on four acres of land which included a swimming pool.

The first house they viewed, which was on the market for £255,500, included three spacious bedrooms.

Stephanie described the first option as “absolutely beautiful” and Stephen “loved the way the light flowed through the windows”.

However, the property was on 1.5 acres of land so the pair thought there would not be enough land for their glamping business.

While they adored the property, they wanted to explore a house with more outdoor space.

The second property was priced at £284,000 and included a private pool, two acres of land, a chalet and a barn which could be transformed into a workshop for Stephen.

The main house boasted a large kitchen, five bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and exposed brick walls and wooden beams which Stephen thought were “breathtaking”.

After exploring the property without Jasmine, the pair thought the inside of the house was “perfect” but their only complaint was the colour of the shutters as Stephanie wanted blue ones rather than red ones.

The third option was on four acres of land and was priced at £281,500 which was over their budget, but they were “itching” to have a look around.

The three-bedroom property included a reception room, three bedrooms, a utility room, a family bathroom and a swimming pool.

As Jasmine took her guests to see the garden Stephanie broke down in tears, adding: “It’s like it’s got everything.”

Stephen, who was choked up following his daughter’s reaction, tearfully said: “Everyone has a dream but to see it become a reality is another level.”

Jasmine also got emotional as her guests explained how much they wanted to make their glamping dream a reality.

They admitted the home needed work so Jasmine took them to explore a fourth option which boasted seven bedrooms and had a £308,000 price tag.

The property expert blew the pair away with the home, but it was dramatically over their budget, so she decided to show them a final property.

However, the fifth house, which was priced at £294,000, was too small for Stephanie and Stephen and was quickly written off.

The following day, Stephen and Stephanie told Jasmine they wanted to put in an offer on the second home they viewed.

Stephanie added: “For me, it’s a case of £262,000 as we need to update the chalet.”

Their offer was declined but they later settled on a higher offer for £271,000 for the property.

A Place in the Sun airs on weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
