Giovanni Pernice on terrifying zipwire

In the final instalment of BBC’s Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily, viewers watched as the Strictly Come Dancing stars integrated themselves into the lives of local monks. However, when the duo prepared to go to sleep, Anton Du Beke was gobsmacked with what Giovanni Pernice had opted to sleep in.

Throughout the three-part series, Anton has embarked on a journey across the sun-kissed country as he explores Giovanni’s home region.

BBC viewers have watched the two Strictly Come Dancing stars immerse themselves in the local culture by trying authentic cuisine, adventuring over Mount Etna and visiting tiny old towns.

However, in the final episode, Giovanni pushed Anton’s limits when they went to visit local monks while on their way to the final destination of Palermo.

During their time there, the two men fully integrated themselves as they joined in with prayers, helped with jobs around the grounds and learnt all about life inside the ancient walls.

Although when they prepared to go to sleep after being escorted to their rooms, Anton wasn’t expecting to see Giovanni wearing near to nothing.

Getting into bed wearing nothing but a small pair of Calvin Klein briefs, Giovanni asked: “Why are you looking at me?”

The Strictly judge replied: “I don’t want any periscope up tonight.

“You’re supposed to wear proper clothes when you come to a place like this. What have I told you?”

As the duo prepared to go to sleep, the professional dancer asked if he should be the one to wake them both up in the morning or if he’d like to do it.

Without hesitation, Anton replied: “I’ll wake you up, I don’t want you coming anywhere near me in those.”

Before the series drew to an end, Giovanni was reunited with his parents in a heartfelt reunion.

During their time there, Giovanni opened up about his life as a young boy as he told Anton his father didn’t approve of his dancing.
