Ashley Banjo shared an adorable snap from the Britain’s Got Talent panel after he was confirmed to take over from Simon Cowell.
Music mogul Simon won’t be returning for the live shows after breaking his back in a bike accident.
The father-of-one has starred on almost every series of the talent show since it began in 2007, but it seems he’ll have to step away for the first time, with fellow judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and David Walliams going on without him for now.
Meanwhile, the Diversity star shared a snap of him and his baby Micah Grace sitting at the panel and we’re hoping Micah is also judging.
‘Funny what can change in a year – Let alone in a lifetime…’ he captioned the post.
‘@simoncowell get well soon boss man, I’ve got you until then 🙏🏽 From contestant to judge… The journey continues 🙌🏽 #bgt #wearediversity.’
With the semi-finals set to be filmed next week, Ashley will be the perfect addition to the judging panel.
‘He knows the power of the show and the responsibility of it,’ Simon began in a statement.
‘I couldn’t think of a better person to sit in my seat whilst I follow doctor’s orders. I hate that stupid bike.’
Ashley went on to add that he’s excited to be taking part, especially after making it to the final with Diversity 11 years ago.
He exclaimed: ‘As if 2020 couldn’t get any crazier! It’s super humbling and super exciting! I remember being on that stage last year and talking about how it’s been ten years since we won, and how people should never tell you, you can’t do something.
‘Walking on that stage as a 20-year-old street dancer from the streets of East London and now I am walking out there and stepping in for the big man! It feels really nice, almost poetic.’
