Minchin probed the Health Secretary on BBC Breakfast this morning about recent issues with the UK’s coronavirus testing system as many viewers were in touch about being turned away from testing centres. The host was keen to find out why there were delays with testing and why many members of the public had to drive from one side of the country to the other for a test. But as Hancock blamed the public for turning up for unnecessary tests, viewers declared they were switching off.

Minchin read out a number of questions from the viewers today who have not been able to get their hands on a coronavirus test, claiming they had to drive miles away from where they live with sick children.

“What is going on?” Minchin demanded to know.

Hancock promised to answer “fully and firmly” explaining just how many tests are being carried out at the moment.

But despite his promise, viewers were furious with his answers and took to Twitter to slam the Health Secretary’s excuses.

@BBCBreakfast I will be turning off am sick of this guy,” one viewer tweeted.

Another added: “@BBCBreakfast – this interview is shocking – turning over to GMB.”

A third shard: “#MattHancock on BBC – turning off, he’s not said anything.”
