Black Mirror season 5 trailer: Anthony Mackie and Andrew Scott face trouble

Black Mirror season five trailer has confirmed there will be several new characters fronting the latest series of the Netflix show.

The trailer includes a number of huge stars, including Marvel alum Anthony – who most recently played Falcon in Avengers: Endgame.

He can be seen cooking at a family BBQ whilst a friend of his, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is swiping through a dating app.

As Yahya attempts to show Anthony a woman on the dating app, he begins shushing him as his wife walks in the room.

A voiceover of Anthony’s wife can be heard saying: “Family life is boring?”

In another scene, the couple are seen in a slightly heated debate, as Anthony’s wife continues: “What is it? Is it me?”

Anthony looks like he is hiding something from his wife as Yahya attempts to rope him in to something. Could this scenario follow on the from success of dating-inspired episode Hang the DJ?

Linking up with yet another episode of Black Mirror, Anthony can later be seen opening a box with some technology in it which looks like a “Grain” from “The Entire History of You.”

In that episode the Grain was used to relive memories – could Anthony be trying to remember something? Or forget some heinous actions he has already carried out?

The trailer began with a shot of Andrew Scott – of Fleabag and Sherlock fame – sitting in a car with a gun, and a hostage.

Arriving behind him, the police warn that they are worried for his safety.

To put their minds at ease, he fires his gun into the air and is later seen screaming.

Later in the trailer Andrew can be seen ranting about people using their phones all the time – could he be waging a war against technology?

Also in the trailer, pop star Miley Cyrus can be seen performing but it’s not yet known just how big her role in the series will be.

It looks like Miley’s character will be fighting with herself as she is spurred on by her mother to keep performing.

But will she somehow have something to do with the young girl featured in the school cafeteria alone?

Miley’s scenes are crossed over with a person in a full-body VR suit – could the young girl in school be the alter-ego of Miley?

And if so, why is she hiding her true identity in the real world?

Viewers thankfully don’t have long to wait to find out

Black Mirror season 5 arrives June 5 on Netflix.
