We’ve finally got confirmation of The Greatest Dancer‘s panel of Dance Captains, with Cheryl set to take on a new reality mentoring role.
After her judging stints on The X Factor‘s UK and US versions, singer Cheryl has been announced as one of three Dance Captains for the new BBC talent show.
She’ll be joined by Broadway star Matthew Morrison, who’s best known for his role as teacher Will Schuester in Glee, and Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabuse.
“I’m so excited to be part of The Greatest Dancer!” Cheryl said. “I’m looking for acts with real passion, who are going to push boundaries and give it their all, no matter what challenges are thrown at them.
“From my own dance background, I know the dedication and commitment dancing takes, I can’t wait to get started.”
Her co-captains are just as excited to be on the show, with Matthew saying: “This is such a powerful moment for me… my sincere hope is that I can uplift and encourage all the dancers to reach their greatness”.
Oti also revealed that she is “looking forward to being able to find amazing new talent and help them unlock their greatest potential to become the best dancers they can be”.
The Dance Captains will all preside over the auditions, which will see hopefuls perform a range of styles of dance including ballet, jazz, hip hop and Bollywood.
They’ll then be faced with the difficult task of whittling down the acts who make it through, before choosing who they each want to mentor and take through to the live shows.
The Greatest Dancer will be hosted by Alesha Dixon and Diversity’s Jordan Banjo and is due to air in 2019.
