Chilling Adventures of Sabrina boss says first season will be a "series of mini-movies"

From Netflix’s official description and first-look images of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, we already know that the new show is going to be nothing like its sitcom predecessor from the ’90s.

But now we also know that, rather than having a typical format, it’s going to be very unique episodic style too.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed: “Sabrina is the heroine in this series of mini-movies.”

He also revealed that one of those mini-movies will be inspired by one of his favourite horror movies – The Exorcist.

“I love The Exorcist,” he said. “It’s one of my favourite movies. We’re doing an homage to that; we’re doing an episode that’s like [The Exorcist].”

If each mini-movie is going to be heavily inspired by an iconic horror film in the same way, then Halloween fans could be in for a real treat.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is officially described by Netflix as “tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist” – which means we can definitely expect some scenes of a messed-up nature.

The series follows Sabrina as she tries to choose between her human life and her witch life, while fighting off evil forces that threaten her family and the mortal world.

Netflix is so pleased with the development process of the series that it has already confirmed a second season.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comes to Netflix worldwide on October 26.
