Coleen Rooney accuses Rebekah Vardy of being a serial leaker of private stories in explosive new court docs

COLEEN Rooney has accused Rebekah Vardy of being a serial leaker of private stories in explosive new court documents today.

In legal documents filed at the High Court, Coleen alleges Rebekah, 38, has a "habitual practice of providing private information".

It comes as the WAGS are due to go head-to-head in a battle over leaked personal details to the media.

Rebekah – wife of Leicester City star Jamie Vardy – filed a High Court libel action against Coleen amid the infamous Wagatha Christie row.

This week The Sun revealed Coleen wanted to avoid going to court and her lawyer confirmed she had been keen to settle out of court, saying: "She remains surprised and disappointed at Mrs Vardy's decision to initiate these proceedings and to continue to pursue these matters through the courts."

But after her legal team filed the 55-page document it seems the explosive showdown will go ahead.

Her solicitor added: "The Defendant will contend that the Claimant acted in this way for the purposes of promoting herself and/or financially exploiting her public profile, particularly as the partner of the well known footballer, Jamie Vardy."

The court documents show Coleen stands by the accusations made on social media that Rebekah leaked stories about her, with the 34-year-old readying for a showdown.

The latest document says: "The Claimant's [Vardy's] established history and habitual practice of providing private information to journalists and the press, including The Sun and The Sun on Sunday newspapers, with whom she has especially close relationships.

"The Claimant sometimes provided this directly, sometimes anonymously (under the pseudonym, 'the Secret Wag', a regular gossip column in The Sun for which she was the source, despite her denying this) and sometimes through third parties who were acting as approved or condoned by her."

All the stories which were subsequently printed in The Sun were put to Coleen’s reps for comment prior to publication.

Paul Lunt, Coleen's solicitor at Brabners, told the MailOnline: "Coleen's defence makes clear why, from the outset, she has been entirely confident in her position."

It comes days after Rebekah vowed to clear her name, telling Good Morning Britain: "We tried to sort things out amicably but it didn't work. I understand people think it's ridiculous but what was I meant to do?

"I need to clear my name, I want to clear my name. I will do whatever it takes, and I hope it's going to be resolved soon."

A spokesman for Coleen Rooney said of the document: "Coleen has always been confident of her position, although she takes no pleasure in now having to set out in public court documents the reasons why.

"It remains a matter of deep regret to her that Rebekah seems determined to persist with court action despite Coleen's offers of private mediation. Coleen believes the money being spent could be put to much better use in these times."

Last October, mum-of-four Coleen claimed in a bombshell social media post how one of her friends was leaking stories about her.

She wrote: “After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be for various reasons, I had a suspicion.”

Coleen claimed she posted a string of false stories via her Instagram account with restricted access to see if they appeared in the media, which they did.

She then said the fake stories had only been viewed by one person, and ended dramatically: “It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

Becky, who was heavily pregnant at the time, denied the allegations and claimed several people had access to her account.

Her lawyers are currently preparing for a bombshell hearing later this year at the High Court.

The case is unlikely to reach a full trial until next year at the earliest.
