Coronation Street brings back Tyrone Dobbs's father – but will a new secret be revealed?

Coronation Street looks set to reveal a family secret next week, as Tyrone Dobbs’s father Darren is reintroduced for a guest appearance.

The ITV soap is delving back into Tyrone’s backstory following the recent death of his mother Jackie, who passed away off screen last month.

Next week’s episodes see Tyrone (Alan Halsall) wrestle with the decision of whether to attend the reading of his mum’s will.

Although Tyrone is initially in favour of skipping the occasion altogether, he later changes his mind after attending Jack Webster’s homecoming party.

Realising the importance of family as he sees the Websters unite together, Tyrone tells Fiz that he should be at the reading after all – despite knowing that Jackie had nothing to leave in her will anyway.

When the couple head off to the solicitor’s office together, they’re surprised to see that the other beneficiary is Tyrone’s dad Darren.

Darren hasn’t been seen on screen since 1999 and is now played by actor Stephen Donald.

While Darren gets a worthless ring, Tyrone is given a box of Jackie’s worldly goods – which includes a videotape she’d recorded saying sorry to her son.

Fiz borrows Roy Cropper’s VCR so they can hear the emotional message, but when the tape sadly snaps, Tyrone is devastated to realise that he’ll never hear Jackie’s last words to him.

Suspecting that Darren knows what was on the video, Fiz summons him to the house. What will Darren reveal?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, September 5 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
