Coronation Street death sparks devastation and 9 other big soap moments you have to see this week

Struggling to keep track of the constant stream of soap spoilers? Fear not, as every Monday Digital Spy picks out the biggest and best storylines hitting your screens in the week ahead.

1. Coronation Street: Tragedy strikes for Rana (Friday at 8.30pm on ITV)

With Hassan’s health rapidly failing, and stubborn Saira still not allowing her to visit her father, Rana is forced to take drastic action this week. Taking Kate’s advice, Rana lies to her mum and makes out that she has finished things for good with her lesbian lover.

Believing her daughter is telling the truth, Saira finally backs down, allowing her into Hassan’s hospital room. Saira tells Hassan that their girl has finally seen “the error of her ways”, and as he squeezes Rana’s hand one last time, he peacefully slips away. How will grieving Rana cope with the burden of knowing she deliberately deceived her beloved dad on his deathbed?

2. EastEnders: Dennis in danger again? (Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

Deciding that Dennis is getting too big for his boots, Phil teaches the spoilt brat a lesson with a day of graft at The Arches. On the way to work, Dennis spots Stix lurking in the distance and enjoys goading the thug from afar. But the cocky schoolkid isn’t laughing later when Phil leaves him to lock up and the gang return to corner him.

As the teens taunt frightened Dennis, Sharon is fuming to discover Phil has left her son all by himself. Rushing over to The Arches, Shazza is horrified to find the garage empty and Dennis’s jacket lying in the pit. As Keanu arrives on the scene, can he help Sharon rescue her boy?

3. Emmerdale: Frank and Megan’s lives are on the line (Thursday 7pm on ITV)

Refusing to lose Frank to another woman, besotted Megan declares her love for the silver fox and is over the moon when he agrees to give things another go. As a token of her affection she treats Frank to a vintage sports car that Ross is flogging, completely unaware that the motor is stolen and definitely not roadworthy.

The couple take their new wheels for a spin, failing to notice an ominous-looking drip coming from the vehicle. Moments later, Frank and Megan are left hovering between life and death as their car crashes and ends up upside down in a ditch. What will this mean for them – and Ross?

4. Hollyoaks: The McQueens are in for a shock (Monday at 7pm on E4 / Tuesday at 6.30pm in on Channel 4)

The McQueens are back in the village following their eventful trip to Magaluf for Mercedes’s hen do. But it’s not the happy homecoming they were hoping for when the clan receive some shocking news that shakes them all to the core.

Disturbed by the dark discovery, Myra and co immediately become concerned about Mercy’s safety. But what part does she have to play in the whole saga, and are her actions going to cause a shed load of further grief for her family?

5. Neighbours: Chloe spirals out of control (Monday at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5)

Chloe is hitting the bottle hard following her devastating Huntington’s diagnosis, and decides to forget her troubles with a night of debauchery with friend Danielle. After sinking a load of liquor, the drunken duo end up stealing the Ramsay Street sign, only to be caught red-handed by Mishti, who arrests Chloe for theft.

The morning after the night before, hungover Chloe is consumed with regret over her self-destructive behaviour, and turns to Karl for advice on how to cope with her condition. Will the doc help Chloe see there’s still light at the end of the tunnel?

6. Coronation Street: Peter and Carla strike a deal (Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV)

Peter and Carla could be one step closer to a romantic reunion when he offers her the money to buy Underworld back. Despite her initial reluctance to get involved with her ex-hubby, Carla decides to accept Peter’s hefty cheque, but tells Michelle she’ll be keeping the Barlow charmer at arm’s length. Good luck with that one.

The next day, Carla breaks the news to the factory staff that she’s their new boss, but it looks as if she won’t be running the show alone, as Peter jacks in his job with Streetcars and announces he’s going to be working full time in the factory. Will the former lovers end up mixing business with a little pleasure?

7. EastEnders: Rainie comes clean to Max (Monday at 8pm on BBC One)

It’s another week in the will they/won’t they saga between Max and Rainie. Convinced that Max fancies her, Rainie is jealous when she discovers he’s joined a ‘no strings attached’ dating site. Not happy with the idea of him seeing other women, Rainie tries her best to sabotage Max’s first date, but her plan backfires.

Wanting to be honest, Cora’s daughter ends up coming clean to her hubby, admitting she has real feelings for him. Instead of taking her straight to the bedroom, stunned Max heads to The Vic. But his evening takes a shock turn when Rainie’s old mate joins him at the bar for a chat. Will her words make Max see Rainie in a whole new light?

8. Emmerdale: Debbie’s in despair over Sarah (Tuesday at 7pm on ITV)

Debbie has been living every parent’s worst nightmare, and her heartache continues when critically ill Sarah refuses to undergo any further treatment. Terrified she’s going to lose her daughter, Debbie is furious when she learns that Sarah overheard Faith saying that her life-saving operation would be a waste of time. She savagely lays into Faith, ordering her to stay away from her family.

Deb’s telling off causes Faith to have a sudden U-turn, and she hatches a plan to convince Sarah to go through with her surgery. But will she manage to get through to the headstrong teen in time?

9. Hollyoaks: Milo’s true identity revealed? (Wednesday at 7pm on E4 )

Milo’s left in a sweat when he watches the camcorder footage Dirk made for Holly’s wedding, and discovers his confession over killing Gordon and Helen has been recorded. Cindy takes the device away before he has a chance to delete the incriminating evidence, and things go from bad to worse when Dennis reveals he’s already burnt the video on DVD.

Pushed into a corner, guilt-ridden Milo cracks, revealing to Cindy and Liberty that he was responsible for Dirk’s death. As the ladies struggle to take in his killer confession, DS Roxy Cassidy arrests Milo and takes him to the station for questioning. With his web of lies starting to unravel, is the Milo’s darkest secret about to be exposed?

10. Home and Away: Colby falls into Ebony’s trap (Friday at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5)

Evil Ebony puts the next phase of her warped revenge plan into action as she reaches out to Colby online, pretending to be his missing sister Bella. Cleverly manipulating every one of the disgraced copper’s weaknesses, Colby has no clue that he’s actually talking to his sworn enemy and not his sibling.

Despite Jasmine and Robbo warning him that all might not be what it seems, Colby plays right into Ebony’s hands when he agrees to meet with ‘Bella’. Having set her trap, Ebony waits for her prey to walk right into it. Can Robbo rescue his friend, or is Ebony about to murder the man who killed her brother?
