Coronation Street explosive Christmas trailer hints Gary will be shot by Derek

The Christmas trailer for Coronation Street has dropped and it looks like things are going to be far from peaceful in Weatherfield this December.

The teaser clip dropped by ITV today hints that Gary Windass (Mikey North) will be shot as he unwraps a present containing a bullet.

It looks like the new soap bad boy will finally met his match as his enemy Derek Millington (Craige Els) decides to fight back with the help of a gun found in the second hand shop.

After being bullied by Gary for months, Derek recently decided to play the builder at his own game and claim the business Gary forced him to put under his name.

In upcoming scenes, Derek tries to sell Underworld to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) behind Gary's back, and the decision will change Weatherfield for good.

Corrie spoilers have revealed that Derek and Gary will be involved in a dramatic showdown with fatal consequences in the Winter Wonderland set up by Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell).

Elsewhere, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is determined to make husband David's (Jack P Shepherd) birthday extra special and arranges a treasure hunt with herself as a prize.

The Roy's Rolls worker plants clues leading her new husband and the rest of the Platt clan to Winter Wonderland leaving where the family find themselves at the centre of Derek's drama.

With the knicker factor rebuild finally finishes, the Underworld workforce are in a celebratory mood but in true soap fashion, the happy atmosphere is short lived when Sarah and Nick discover the true identity of the new landlord.

Meanwhile Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox) finds herself home alone and with everyone believing she's gone away for the festive season, disaster strikes leaving her life hanging in the balance.

As 2019 draws to a close, Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) leaves Weatherfield but not before discovering she's unwittingly sold the Bistro to her enemy Ray Crosby.

It was revealed earlier this year that Kym was leaving the soap after a decade on the cobbles.

Will there ever by a happy Christmas in Weatherfield?
