Coronation Street star admits they’ve quit soap and already filmed final scenes

Coronation Street star Carl Blakeley has revealed he has left the Cobbles and has already filmed his final scenes.

On Sunday, the Northern actor – who played the role of far right gang member Ollie Deacon – took to Instagram to announce his departure from the ITV soap online.

Alongside a series of behind-the-scenes snaps from his time on the show, the former TV villain thanked the cast and crew for their support throughout his time on the long-running programme.

He wrote: “Joining the cobbles in August was a dream come true and I’ve had the most amazing experience on the show.

“It’s reinvigorated my love for working in TV and I just wanna say cheers to the producers, crew, directors, as well as @gillywalshy and the @corriemakeup crew I’ve worked with over the last few months.

“Obviously, a massive thanks to everyone I’ve worked alongside in front of the camera too, but specifically to @belfastmikey77, @itslukedelaney, @scott_anson_, @paddybever, @caitfitt0n, @twana.0121_ and @martinhancock22.

“You guys made every day fun and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.”

In the ITV soap, Ollie was the youngest member of the terror group that groomed Max Turner and was often manipulated and teased by gang leader Griff Reynolds.

Last week, the gang was infiltrated and then decimated by cops which saw many of the youngsters facing time behind bars, but Griff still has a large part to play in an ongoing storyline.

This week, Spider pays Griff a visit in prison in a bid to uncover the main organiser behind the gang who financially helped him to spread his racist agenda across Weatherfield.

Spider agrees to get Griff’s sentence reduced on one condition that he rats out on who was funding his extensive operation – but will he take the bait?

Coronation Street continues on weekdays ITV1 from 8pm.
