The 34-year-old soap star admitted on Lorraine earlier today she was “emotional” to be appearing in her final scenes, before pointing out her character Eva Price hadn’t been killed off.
The mum-of-one was appearing on Lorraine to discuss her departure from the series this summer, after her exit was exclusively revealed by The Sun’s Bizarre column in December.
When asked by Lorraine Kelly why she was leaving, she said: “I’ve been there seven years now, so I just felt it was time for a change.
“We want to do a bit of travelling as well, in between new projects.”
Lorraine asked: “As a family?”
The actress, who has son Alfie with husband Tom Pitford, replied: “Yes as a family. My son is three, and hopefully he’ll get to see a bit more of mummy.”
Lorraine then said: “But, like we say, she’s not getting killed off.”
With a knowing look, Catherine answered: “No. Thank god!”
Lorraine added: “She’s such a classic Corrie character. You can see her bouncing in and out all the time.”
Dropping a heavy hint, the star said: “I hope so!”
Catherine’s appearance on Lorraine comes just days after she and co-star Simon Gregson had fans in stitches with a rather rude video.
It featured the actor, who plays Steve McDonald, being cheeky with a banana.
In the post he can be seen wearing just his boxers while peeling a banana in front of his nether regions.
As he did so, the 43-year-old asked Catherine how she felt about her impending exit and she pretended to burst into some very theatrical tears.

She then stormed off leaving her food – and her bottle of salad cream – on the table as Steve muttered under his breath “f**king actresses”.
The soap star captioned the clip: “#dontaskherthatquestion #leaving #inabitbabes @fat_dracula.”
