The former soldier, played by Mikey North in the ITV soap, becomes suspicious that evil Phelan isn’t actually dead when Eileen Grimshaw’s stalker steps up their game, putting a brick through her window and organising a house clearance in the name of ‘Pat’.
And when Eileen gets a phone call from her presumed-dead husband, Gary’s little sister Faye suggests that the builder who murdered Luke Britton, Andy Carver and Vinny Ashford could still be alive.
Despite the police trying to reassure the worried Weatherfield residents that they have no reason to believe Phelan survived his deathly drop into the Irish Sea, when his daughter Nicola Rubinstein, played by Nicola Thorp, tells Gary about a new friend she’s made in an online group for expectant mums, his suspicions are raised.
Nicola, who is heavily pregnant with Gary’s baby, shows him a message and he’s shocked to see the so-called friend is based in Abegele.
Worried that Phelan didn’t die and is secretly posing as a mum-to-be online to spy on those who betrayed him, Gary decides to do some digging.
Gary turns detective and manages to track someone fitting Phelan’s description – bald and terrifying – down to a caravan park in Wales.
Roping in his friend Joe, the two men head off to the campsite and – from a distance – Gary is horrified to see that Phelan is indeed alive and well.
But does Phelan spot Gary and what will he do when he realises his plan for vengeance has been rumbled?
Could Gary be his next victim?
