Coronation Street’s Sally Carman teases happy ending 'on the horizon' for Abi

Coronation Street favourite Sally Carman has hinted better things are coming for her alter-ego Abi Franklin, after a very rough year on the cobbles.

Following her son Seb’s (Harry Visinoni) death, Abi (Sally Carman) has struggled to get on with life, especially when an unexpected baby was added to the mix.

The past few weeks have seen her trying to prove that she is fit to be a mum to her baby Alfie, who is the result of a one-night stand with Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo)

She is now locked in a brutal custody fight between herself and Imran and his partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), after she was set up to reveal she’d been buying drugs.

However, she is determined to get her baby son back, but with a dramatic week in store for the soap next week, actress Sally has revealed her character may finally have some happiness in store.

Chatting alongside her on-screen love interest Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, Sally was quizzed by presenter Alison Hammond about what was to come for Abi.

Alison said: ‘Abi, I feel so sorry for her because her life is just so tragic. It always goes wrong with her.

‘When is she going to get a happy ending?’ the ITV presenter asked.

But Sally bluntly replied: ’She needs to get a grip! She does. It’s time, isn’t it? She has to try harder.

‘I think maybe there’s one on the horizon? I don’t know, can’t say any more,’ Sally teased of a happy ending.

‘She’s going to give it away,’ Alison joked, with the soap star quipping: ‘I know, I’m hopeless!’

It comes as Michael recently shared with Metro.co.uk how Kevin ‘doesn’t regret’ getting involved with Abi, despite their current rough patch following the revelation of her baby and affair with Imran.

‘I think she’s brought out a different dimension to him. She keeps him on his toes and stops him getting bored.

‘He can see that no one’s perfect – he loves her. When you love someone, you see through the faults, through thick and thin. And that’s what a relationship should be. And hopefully, if Kevin ever falls on hard times, Abi will be there for him.’

But will the pair manage to fix things and repair their relationship?
