Coronation Street’s Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) may have just enjoyed a honeymoon, but it’s far from happily ever after for them.
Samia has hinted that the relationship isn’t destined for a happy ending – and that Maria might not ever find her perfect match.
She explained to Lorraine Kelly on her show: ‘It was gonna happen, wasn’t it?
‘I don’t think Maria’s ever going to find her Prince Charming and certainly not in Gary.’
The actress, 38, added: ‘At the moment she’s wearing blinkers and trying to see the best in him and she thinks that she’s won the jackpot with him, but I think it’s all gonna come out in the wash as they say.’
Well that doesn’t sound promising in the slightest.
However, Samia’s got much more to celebrate than Maria, with the show set to mark its 60th anniversary.
The star, who’s married to Dancing On Ice pro Sylvain Longchambon, made her first appearance on the show in 2000.
She had her 20-year anniversary on the cobbles earlier this year, and has now described the soap’s 60-year mark as ‘mindblowing’.
‘That’s just insane, isn’t it?’ she reflected ‘When I joined I was there for the 40th anniversary special […] 60 years is just mindblowing.’
Gary is about to be left fighting for his life after gangster Mick Chaney (Neil Bell) sets out to exact revenge.
After Gary apprehended Mick and ruined his plans to kill Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), the gangster was left less than happy.
Now, Mick believes the former loanshark is in cahoots with Todd, and therefore he pays him a little visit at the furniture store.
The gangster — and one of his sidekicks — threaten Gary, before making their getaway, but Maria later finds Gary battered and bleeding.
As for whether he’s going to pull through, only time will tell.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
