With Luca on holiday, it falls on Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) to help out a recovering Dr Emma Reid (Dido Miles) in Doctors.

Emma is still recovering from her recent hospitalisation after a drunken fall.

Valerie’s good intentions soon backfire when when she proves more hindrance than help.

She buys a present for Emma that can answer all her questions – play music.

Sadly for Emma it isn’t a gift she wants, asks for or needs, and is very expensive.

Zara Carmichael (Elizabeth Dermot Walsh) has one similar ‘Harper’ that she became addicted to before ultimately destroying it.

Meanwhile, Valerie decides to turn out Emma’s kitchen cupboards and moves from one irritation to another with support from her new present.

Emma uses a bell Zara gave her once, while telling Valerie that she is ‘needy’ to buy such an outlandish and unwanted present, and thus there is an impasse.

Will Valerie and Emma come to an understanding before things escalate too far?

Doctors airs these scenes from Monday March 28 at 1:45pm on BBC One then 7pm on BBC Two.
