EastEnders and Emmerdale star Patsy Kensit lands new role in major drama

Soap legend Patsy Kensit, known for her characters in EastEnders, Emmerdale and Holby City, has been cast in the next series of Death in Paradise.

The actress, who most recently left her role as Emma in EastEnders, will star alongside Ralf Little, who plays the current lead detective in the show, DI Neville Parker.

Each episode centres around a murder taking place on the island which are then investigated by Neville and his team – Marlon (Tahj Miles), Naomi (Shantol Jackson) and Darlene (Ginny Holder), with guest stars and very famous faces playing the suspects.

A source recently said to The Sun that: ‘Patsy will play a posh totty in the drama and was in her element as she filmed in the Caribbean’, but given that this series won’t air till January 2024, the exact role Patsy will play is currently unknown.

Patsy’s role in EastEnders saw her portray Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) long-lost mum.

The character arrived in Walford after learning her daughter has an incurable brain tumour.

At first, Lola wanted nothing to do with her, but after explaining why she abandoned her as a child, she decided to let her mum back in.

In February, Patsy confirmed that she had left her role as Emma and a few weeks later, the character departed Albert Square after Lola asserted that she wouldn’t have contact with her ever again.

Recently, Lola was given the heart-breaking news that the palliative chemo she was having had stopped working and now only has weeks left to live.

The BBC One soap confirmed that Lola will die on May 31, when Jay faces ‘the most difficult moment’ of his life.

Speaking to The Sun about her final scenes, Danielle described it as ‘the most beautiful episode of EastEnders’, but revealed that it took her a long time to pluck up the courage to read it.
