EastEnders' Carmel Kazemi comes face to face with Shakil's killer in prison

EastEnders‘ Carmel Kazemi will visit Shakil’s murderer in prison next week after being tracked down by his troubled mum.

Carmel (Bonnie Langford) has been left grief-stricken after her son Shakil was fatally stabbed by gang leader Bruno in a topical knife crime story back in May.

However, Carmel is about to face another harrowing ordeal in upcoming scenes, which begins when she finds Bruno’s mum Sophie on her doorstep.

Although Carmel initially refuses to speak to Sophie, she is later forced to intervene when a furious Keegan spots Sophie in the Square and confronts her.

As the teenager shares some harsh words with Sophie, Carmel does her best to defuse the situation – infuriating Keegan in the process.

After a blazing row with Keegan, Carmel is surprised when Sophie comes to see her again – this time revealing that she is being targeted by a local gang after grassing them up.

Concerned after the gang in question turn up on the Square, Carmel ends up taking pity on Sophie and offers her a place to stay.

As Sophie’s presence continues to cause tension, Carmel soon realises there is actually another reason for her visit – Bruno wants to see them both.

Despite her initial doubts, a fired-up Carmel later goes with Sophie to confront Bruno at the prison. But how will the visit go?

EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
