EastEnders ended in heartbreak tonight (September 20) as Hayley Slater’s mum Bev cruelly walked away from her daughter, despite Hayley’s fears for her baby.
Hayley’s estranged mum Bev (Ashley McGuire) turned up at the Slaters’ house at the beginning of the episode and although Hayley (Katie Jarvis) is initially uninterested in what her mum has to say, she ultimately decides to hear her out.
After the pair decide to catch up at E20, Bev soon reveals why she really returned to Walford and confirmed to her daughter that she really hasn’t changed at all by asking Hayley for help in conning married men into giving them money.
With Hayley left fuming over her mother’s deception, it’s not long before the pair get into a blazing row where Hayley can’t wait to see the back of her mum.
But things soon take a tragic turn as Hayley doubles up in pain while following Bev out onto the street and calls out to her mum for help in getting her to the hospital as she realises she’s bleeding and worries she’s losing her baby.
Despite her daughter being in pain, Bev drives off in the waiting cab, leaving Hayley scared and screaming on the Square.
In the aftermath of her scare, Hayley becomes increasingly anxious about the welfare of her unborn baby but, fortunately, future spoilers show that Hayley is later relieved when she feels the baby move.
But as Hayley reels from her showdown with Bev, could this ruin her new positive attitude about her pregnancy?
Elsewhere in Albert Square tonight, Zara Highway begins to doubt her dad Stuart’s story when he gives his statement to the police, but just as viewers were hoping that she would be the key to getting Mick out of jail, Stuart managed to convince his daughter back to his side.
As Linda begs Zara to believe her and the Carters’ theory that Stuart shot himself and is framing Mick, Zara deals a crushing blow as she backs her dad’s story – and seals Mick’s fate.
