EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley has revealed that she almost ended up landing a part on rival soap Coronation Street.
The BBC star, who has been playing Karen Taylor since 2017, auditioned for Corrie shortly before she nabbed her part on Albert Square.
However, sadly – or not, depending on how you look at it – Lorraine’s audition didn’t quite go as well as she’d hoped.
It turns out the part called for a northern accent, and Lorraine just didn’t know how to do one justice.
“I went to audition for Corrie once,” she told Inside Soap.
“I did a character with a northern accent for the read-through. But when I got there on the day, I just couldn’t do the accent.
“I can only do it when I’m messing around! I was gutted.”
Meanwhile, EastEnders viewers watched this week as Ben Mitchell made his return to the Square.
Ben returned after getting a call from Kathy Beale.
During Tuesday night’s episode he spent some time in the Queen Vic catching up on everything he’d missed while being away.
During a chat with the gang, Louise Mitchell questioned whether Ben and Lexi are an item, despite the fact Ben is a gay man.
A confused looking Ben then turned to her and joked: “Nah, I’m still a bit gay.”
Viewers rushed to social media to question how Ben could be “a bit” gay, with many sharing their outrage over his remark.
