GRIEF-STRICKEN and lonely, Chas Dingle recently allowed a mysterious man named Simon sleep on her sofa.
However, Emmerdale viewers quickly rushed to social media to share their thoughts on her actions, completely incredulous.
The Woolpack manager portrayed by Lucy Pargeter was clearly struggling during Monday's trip to the ITV Dales as the anniversary of her daughter Grace's death is fast approaching.
Chas went to Grace's grave on Monday alongside her former husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).
And after seeing him sharing a moment with his new other half Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), Chas went to The Hide to drown her sorrows – where she made a new acquaintance in the form of Simon.
Robert Beck reprised his role as evil Harry and his on-screen alter ego decide to play tricks on Chas by taking on a fake name.

Fans of the Yorkshire-based program were flabbergasted by Chas' behaviour.
"Did I miss something? Why is he sleeping on the sofa? Just go home!", one stunned viewer commented on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another jumped in: "As if you’d let a random bloke you’ve just met sleep on your sofa."

"Lovely to see this new guy is going to sleep on the sofa and Chas getting him a duvet… As the light pours through the kitchen window", a third soap viewer pointed out.
"Why does baldy need to stay on her sofa?? Bit weird- she chatted & flirted with him for an hour and is now providing bed & breakfast. Surely he already had a place to go, i.e. home", another concluded.
As regular viewers of the long-running program will know, Harry aka Simon already has a dark history in the eponymous village as he has squabbled two of Chas' relatives, Caleb and Cain.
