Beloved Emmerdale couple Robert (played by Ryan Hawley) and Aaron (Danny Miller) have been at the forefront of fans’ minds for months now, as they are desperate for a baby of their own.
The difficulties for the couple have been vast, not least of which is because of how expensive it is to pay for a surrogate to have their baby.
At first Robert told his husband he didn’t want to meet with potential baby surrogates, leaving Aaron upset and lost.
The haulage company worker decided regardless of Robert he was going to set the ball in motion, and met with a woman in the hope he could hire her to be the carrier, but things went wrong very quickly.
Aaron had stolen his husband’s money to pay the woman straight away, but when he attempted to give her the wads of cash she was utterly stunned by his assumption.
It turned out the surrogate hadn’t begun the process for money but rather simply to help people, and she was offended Aaron had tried to pay her for the service.
Aaron was left lost and alone when the woman refused to speak to him again, and his relationship with Robert has been frosty at best ever since.
Robert was understandably angry, but he also wasn’t trying to understand things from his husband’s perspective.
While Robert is currently happy as a dad to his own son Seb, the little boy he fathered with Rebecca White (Emily Head), Aaron still hasn’t had the chance to be a father.
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV
Will the character ever have his own children on the ITV soap?
It finally looks like things might be about to change, and the pair could be set for some positive news.
In upcoming episodes Robert decides to give things another go and he supports Aaron in going to another surrogacy meeting.
Aaron’s delighted, but how will they fare at their first meeting together? Will they decide to hire a surrogate then and there?
Robert and Aaron aren’t the only Dingles to face baby woes as Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and her husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) are expecting.
Viewers will remember the heartbreaking tragedy the couple faced with their last child, Grace, who developed a congenital lung condition.
Chas and Paddy chose to give their daughter the best life she could possibly have and went through with the pregnancy, but it meant that when Grace was born the new parents barely had an hour with her before she passed away.
Tonight’s instalment showed Paddy struggling to hold it together in anticipation of their first scan tomorrow, terrified of the same thing happening to their next child.
Luckily Chas managed to talk the vet round, reminding him they won’t discover whether their new baby has the same condition for a while.
Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
