Emmerdale fans are desperate for serial killer Meena Jutla to face justice after wreaking havoc in the ITV village – and it looks like her day of reckoning is almost here.
As Meena returns to the Dales intent on kidnapping Billy and Dawn on their wedding day, she starts a dangerous game which forces Billy to choose between his own life and Dawn's.
But actress Paige Sandhu, who plays Meena, has promised theirs aren't the only lives in danger.
Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Paige said: "Every single person that is involved in these scenes – all of our lives are in danger, because things don't go to Meena's plan.
"Stuff happens… there are many people's lives in danger."
Speaking of Meena's potential death, Paige explained: "I don’t think she’s scared of dying – I think that she’s so confident and arrogant that she believes no-one would ever be able to get the better of her.
"Psychopaths are incapable of feeling fear like we can, so I don’t think she would ever be able to get to that place of really believing that someone has got the better of her.
"I think it would be more exciting [to her] than anything else."
The star added: "There’s a line in Peter Pan that I always think about, where he thinks he’s going to die and says, 'To die would be an awfully great adventure'.
"I think Meena would feel the same thing – like, 'Oh, if I’m really going to die, that would be quite exciting to experience that!'
"I think she’d have an inappropriate reaction to death."
But would Meena cope in prison?
Paige confessed: "In my planning of why Meena has come back, I think she decided that she’s most likely going to get caught because everyone knows [what she's done], but she's okay with that – because the idea of letting Billy and Dawn get away with everything they've done is more horrifying to her than going to prison.
"So she has gone back with that plan, but as we go along things don’t go to her plan. Things change and mess up.
"I think if she does see an opportunity of being able to get away then she will use it. And because of her confidence and arrogance she believes that she can outsmart anyone – so if she did get caught by the police then she would believe she could manipulate and worm herself out of situations – which she has done in the past many times with the police."
And rehabilitation simply isn't an option for Meena, Paige explained.
Reflecting on the research she conducted for her character, the actress said: "I actually read a study about psychopaths – it was in the 70s, and there was a doctor trying to rehabilitate them.
"But just after the test was done, they found that these psychopaths in prison were 80 percent more likely to commit a crime [than before], and before it was 60 percent more likely.
"So he’d actually made them better psychopaths. They said they were more able to manipulate people because they could understand the signs of being empathetic and how to be kind – their masks were better.
"It was obviously a massive failure and just helped them commit crimes better. So I don’t think she’d be able to be rehabilitated at all."
Summing up, Paige promised that next week is going to be the "pinnacle" of drama.
She said: "We’re sort of coming to the head of the Meena storyline now, so if you thought it was exciting and dramatic before this is the pinnacle of all excitement and drama.
"It’s the final showdown between Billy, Dawn and Meena – and Meena gets her revenge on any man who’s ever messed her about in the past. It’s a wedding in Emmerdale, and they’re always exciting – something always happens!"
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7pm on ITV
